The Texas Department of Agriculture quilt collection along with vintage quilts from the Garza County Historical Museum collection will be on exhibit Saturday, November 3, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Post Community Center. The exhibit is open to the public. There is no admission fee.

The monthly Book Talk event held at The Heritage House has made it possible for the Post Public Library to receive a $1000 grant from the PEARL project through University of North Texas. The grant was made possible by the Robert and Ruby Priddy Charitable Trust, Wichita Falls, TX.

The second annual community celebration honoring our founder, C. W. Post, on his birthday will be Wednesday, October 26, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the Heritage House.

At its most recent meeting, the Texas Historical Foundation, a 57-year old preservation organization, awarded a grant to the Caprock Cultural Association in Post.
The Caprock Cultural Association was awarded THF funding for a traveling photography exhibit highlighting 10 buildings in Texas designed by nationally-renowned, early 20th-century architect Louis Curtiss. Two of the featured buildings originally served as depots for the Santa Fe Railroad and are located in Post and Snyder. While the depot in Post has been restored and houses the local Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center, the structure in Snyder was placed on the 2011 Preservation Texas’ Most Endangered List.

John Erickson, author of the “Hank the Cowdog” series of books will perform in Post Sept. 11, 6:30 p.m. in the Elementary School Auditorium. Erickson’s appearances in Post are sponsored by the Caprock Cultural Association, Ruby Lane Books and Judge Lee Norman. He will also perform for Post Elementary 2nd – 5th graders at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 11.
Erickson will also be at Ruby Lane Books, 127 E. Main St. in Post 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. for a book signing and to meet his fans.
Representatives from the 52-county Texas Plains Trail Region held their annual Roundup in Post Monday and Tuesday, August 15 and 16. The event was hosted by the Caprock Cultural Association; however, several other local organizations helped make the meetings a success including Post City Celebrations, Inc.; the Post Area Chamber of Commerce; the City of Post; Garza County and the Garza Theatre.

Event to honor Post Art Guild
Post native, C. David Morrow, will present a concert Saturday, August 27, 7:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1011 W. 10th St. in Post. The vocal concert and reception are sponsored by the Caprock Cultural Association and will honor the 50th anniversary of the Post Art Guild. The reception will be at the Heritage House, 109 N. Avenue N, Post immediately after the concert.
