Creative Writing Workshop

Everyone has a story to tell and you’ve probably said that you’ll write your story “someday.” Well, folks, “someday” is here! The Caprock Cultural Association is sponsoring creative writing classes for adults that will help you whether you want to get started writing or if you are already working on a writing project.

This fun, informal writing class is being offered at 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., each Tuesday in February at The Heritage House. You choose the time that is best for you. To be sure participants receive the full benefit of the classes, registration is limited, so call today! The first class is February 1. Your total cost is $30 for four classes. Free Concert to Honor Founder’s Birthday

The community of Post is celebrating the birthday of its founder, cereal magnate C. W. Post, with a free concert Saturday, October 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Heritage House, 109 No. Avenue N. The Post Area Chamber of Commerce is also sponsoring a “Cereal Cook-off” as part of the event.

The house concert will featuring music by singer/songwriter Sydney Wright, formerly of Snyder.

Anyone wanting to participate in the cook-off competition should simply prepare a dish using some variety of Post cereal and bring it to the Heritage House (in a disposable dish) between 6 – 6:30 p.m. on October 26. Everyone who attends the concert will vote for their favorite dish. The winner will receive a $100 cash prize and an award.

Wyman Meinzer Photography Workshop

There are still some places available for the photography workshop taught by Wyman Meinzer in Post, August 4. The official State Photographer will return to Post August 4 for a Night Photography Workshop. Meinzer will teach participants how to paint with light and how to shoot in moonlight.

Sponsored by the Caprock Cultural Association of Post, the event will begin with a casual supper with Meinzer at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, August 4 followed by the night photography class. Participants will photograph locations near Post with instruction from Meinzer. To ensure personalized attention, the class is limited to 15.

National Administrative Professionals Day April 25

Lunch at the Heritage House

National Administrative Professionals Day (formerly known as Secretary’s Day) is Wednesday, April 25. The Heritage House will be serving a special lunch that day to help local businesses honor their staff.

Sponsored by the Caprock Cultural Association, the lunch will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The meal will include smoked pork loan prepared by Dick Odom with “loaded” mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls and dessert. There will be door prizes and special gifts for the Administrative Professionals attending.

February 24 & 25 in Post

There are still some places available for the Photography Workshop in Post, February 24 and 25. Wyman Meinzer, the official State Photographer of Texas, will lead a Night Photography class Friday and Wes Underwood of South Plains College will hold the Saturday workshop.

Participants will photograph locations in or near Post with instruction from Meinzer. To ensure personalized attention, the class is limited to 15.

Xcel Energy Foundation Funds Grant to Local Organization

Xcel Energy Foundation board of directors recently awarded an Arts and Culture grant of $2,000 to the Caprock Cultural Association of Post.

This funding provides financial support for the Caprock Cultural Association, a 501 (c)3 non-profit, to offer broader art and cultural opportunities to the community. The purpose of the CCA, founded in 1986, is: “to promote, encourage, direct, sponsor and otherwise develop cultural activities.”
